Madiba Day | 18 July 2019

by Lourens Bezuidenhout on July 19, 2019

We used our 67 minutes to serve our community in Jan Niemand Park, Pretoria at Transvalia School for Epilepsy and Learning Disabilities.

The team set out on a winter morning armed with a large pot of soup, bread rolls and a chocolate for each child in the foundation phase. The tables were set with colourful trays and bowls and soon the children queued to enjoy the feast. For most, it would maybe be their only meal for the entire day.

You see these children look normal to the eye, but except for their special needs regarding their learning disabilities, some of them even come from broken homes. Some live in foster homes and children's homes, others just come from poor and difficult backgrounds.

What a humbling experience to realise we have so much to be thankful for. To see these children smile warms the heart.
